Basic Life Support (BLS) is the CPR course designated for Healthcare workers who work in the hospital or clinic setting. This is not the course for lay rescuers who work for schools or are caregivers.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and paramedics.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and paramedics.
